UK undergraduate deadlines: planning for 2027 entry
FREE TCO GUIDESA calm application calendar separates tasks that look similar but have different deadlines. Your form, reference, admissions test and university follow-up may each need their own reminder.

Start with the date that applies to you
For 2027 entry, UCAS lists 13 January 2027 at 18:00 UK time as the equal-consideration deadline for most undergraduate courses. The 15 October 2026 deadline for Oxford, Cambridge and most medicine, dentistry and veterinary courses has already passed as of this guide’s check date.
If you missed an earlier deadline, do not assume the January date repairs that application. Check the named course’s current instructions and contact admissions about your circumstances. Other suitable courses may follow a different timetable.
Turn one deadline into several manageable jobs
Consider an illustrative student applying for a January-deadline course. Their school wants the draft before the winter break so a referee can prepare the reference. The student writes only January in their calendar, then discovers the school’s earlier deadline when a teacher reminds them.
The useful fix is not simply to work faster. Add separate rows for choosing courses, preparing evidence, requesting the reference, checking the final form and confirming submission. For each row, name the person responsible and the evidence that will show it is finished.
UCAS says a reference is needed before the application can be sent. Asking someone to write it and having it ready are different stages. Give your referee the course choices and school instructions early, and check progress politely.
Treat extra requirements as separate work
Do not assume submitting UCAS books an admissions test or completes every university form. Read each course’s instructions for tests, portfolios, written work and follow-up requests. Record the exact deadline and published time zone before converting it to your local time.
Keep confirmations together. A saved draft is not a submitted application. Checking those distinctions gives you something more useful than reassurance: a clear picture of what still needs attention.
